What we're looking for

The Media Strategy Supervisor is responsible for leading the media planners and strategists that deliver media, data and touchpoint strategies. An important aspect of this role is to ensure that all media strategies are delivered as part of integrated data, content and content distribution plans. This role will be responsible for ensuring that integration happens with key stakeholders across the agency.

The role includes the education of the agency on new media strategies and tactics. The Manager is also responsible for the overall management, performance and growth of their direct reports.

This role will also perform an important role in Noise’s data-driven consultancy practice, ensuring that media planning initiatives are integrated with DMP activations. This role will lead client and agency education in this space, helping to reduce complexity and communicate value of data-driven strategies.

What you'll do

Management

  • Contributes to setting departmental goals that align with the strategic plan and executes action plans to achieve them.
  • Holds a high quality standard for outgoing work and teams output
  • Able to collaborate between different team leads and members
  • Evaluates direct reports' strengths and weaknesses on an ongoing basis. Provides training and coaching to build strengths via direct feedback and regular performance evaluations.
  • Ensure the work processes are respected and communicated clearly to the team
  • Participates in the process of interviewing, hiring, training, conducting performance evaluations, motivating, and optimizing direct reports.

Finance and Operations

  • Reviews Media team timesheets for accuracy and efficiency opportunities
  • Supports Account Service and client teams to look for opportunities to increase profitability and drive efficiency.

Business Development

  • Assists planning/strategy team in production of strategic deliverables for new business opportunities.
  • Coordinates with Client and Strategy team members to develop initial proposals and quotes for time for the discovery ­­phase with prospects

Media

  • Provides digital education and information plans for clients, and oversight on related content and scheduling as it relates to specific projects and according to specified workflow.
  • Consults with clients at early stage of media planning to identify marketing campaign goals and translate them into media strategies and solutions.
  • Presents solutions to accounts/clients in a professional manner with easy-to-understand language
  • Manages media planning cycles, from preparing and presenting plans to coordinating analyses and optimization recommendations.
  • Develops and manages communication processes with Campaign Buying team to ensure cohesion between plans and execution.
  • Oversees reporting, optimization and analysis processes.
  • Maintains macro view of digital media performance, making strategic optimization decisions where necessary.
  • Attends status meetings, regular plans, and strategic reviews on assigned clients/projects.
  • Collaborates with Media Specialists and other team members to develop and implement testing plans across tactics, working with product experts, planners and clients.
  • Represents Media department in project kick-off meetings, voicing questions pertaining to media scope/definition, and providing input on media solutions and risks/concerns.
  • Assists with ad hoc media planning and buying support for select brand and social campaigns.
  • Provides estimates for media related efforts for select brands and social campaigns.
  • Works with ad operations to ensure adequate tracking and QA.

Project Management & Strategy

  • Works with the Account leads, Planners, and other senior team members to brief complex projects (e.g. large creative initiatives, insights or development proposals).
  • Consults with clients to understand campaign objectives and requirements.
  • Supports the Producer in building project plans and timelines, providing any predetermined constraints.
  • Highlights scope, time, or budget creep with Production and/or the Account Director when necessary.
  • Provides prompt and regular campaign status updates to clients and internal teams
  • Initiates check-ins and project status reports with team members and project managers to flag potential problems well in advance and simultaneously recommends solutions.
  • Ensures campaign optimization is viewed through media, content and brand strategy lenses.
  • Ensures all strategies presented to client have a Success Measurement Framework – this role will be responsible for leading the development of these. They should incorporate data, communications and media success measures.
  • Runs workshops with clients to develop Success Measurement Frameworks
  • Runs workshops with Strategy team stakeholders to develop integrated plans.

Administration

  • Creates and updates procedures on tasks relating to the duties of this position.
  • Able to track project hours, submit and approve timesheets on a weekly basis

What you'll need to bring

  • Post-secondary education, preferably in a relevant field (Data, Media, Communications, etc.)
  • 2-4 years of experience in an agency or media role.
  • 2-4 years working with Facebook and Programmatic media (DSP, Ad Servers)
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of the marketing and digital landscape —  Online campaigns, new technologies used in both front and back ends, social media, and online marketing.
  • Intermediate knowledge of media specific terminology and digital metrics, corresponding data, and their implication on planning efforts.
  • Intermediate knowledge of media and research tools (comScore, MRI, eMarketer, etc.).
  • Advanced awareness of demand side platforms, data management platforms and ad servers.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, custom charts, filters, dashboards, macros, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of Ad Editor platforms (i.e. Google AdWords Editor and Facebook Power Editor).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Enterprise Analytics tools (i.e. Google Analytics, Omniture, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of bid management or cross-marketing platforms.
  • Intermediate knowledge of technology platforms and how to design solutions that align the strategy  overcome implementation obstacles an enhance campaign performance.
  • Able to derive and communicate actionable insights from large disparate data sets.
  • Advanced computer and digital literacy skills (Microsoft Windows / Apple OSX, Microsoft Office, SocialMedia).
  • Google DoubleClick certification
  • Google Analytics certification
